Some facts: Louisiana is known as the incarceration capitol of the world. Black people, people of color, LGBTQ people, disabled people, and their communities are disproportionately targeted by police and more likely to end up in prison. Police today resemble a military more than ever before. Even though our communities are not warzones, they buy supplies and weapons from the US military and use military tactics and training. Prisons create more problems than they solve and do not address why crimes are committed.
WE NEED RESTORATIVE JUSTICE NOW.
ABOLISH THE POLICE, ABOLISH PRISONS, ABOLISH MODERN DAY SLAVERY: MASS INCARCERATION, ABOLISH ANGOLA, JUSTICE FOR ALTON STERLING & PHILANDO CASTILE.

sometimes I wish I could run away from the nightmares in this world, just go live a small simple selfish life off the grid somewhere, or surround myself with people who think the same way I do all the time, but I’ve already tried that and I’ve found there is no road long enough to escape this shit and nothing to gain from talking to a mirror. If you ask me, running is just about as far from liberation as it gets. I believe it’s only by turning toward the pain and the fear, sitting with it, confronting it fully, that we can begin to change.
